Inclusive Community Rebrand

Cisco's Inclusive Communities provide unique opportunities for personal growth, community building, and inclusive leadership. Nearly a third of our employees are members of at least one Cisco Inclusive Community. We have 31 Inclusive Communities, 1,200 volunteer leaders, and 345 chapters across 79 countries.

Situation: With over 30 ICs across the company (that are also global) we had a lot of logos that, while they worked for the individual group, did not line up with the overall brand of the company. This created inconsistencies in branding, fragmented recognition across regions, and a disconnect from Cisco’s broader brand ecosystem.

Task: I was part of a team tasked with leading a global rebrand initiative to unify these Inclusive Communities under a more cohesive visual system while still preserving the individuality and purpose of each group. The objective was to create stronger alignment with Cisco’s master brand and improve consistency across internal and external communications.

Solution: We formed a cross-functional task force to collaborate directly with stakeholders and representatives from each community group worldwide. Through workshops and ongoing communication, we gathered feedback, identified shared needs, and aligned on a unified design direction.

My role focused on helping redesign the visual identity system, including updated badges and brand assets that aligned more closely with Cisco’s overall branding standards. We developed a streamlined framework that created consistency across communities while allowing each group to maintain its unique voice and cultural relevance.

Result: The rebrand resulted in a more cohesive and recognizable identity system for Cisco’s Inclusive Communities globally. The updated badges and visual standards strengthened brand alignment, improved scalability across regions, and created a more unified employee experience across communications and engagement initiatives.

The project also reinforced my ability to navigate large-scale stakeholder collaboration, balance brand governance with inclusivity, and contribute to design systems that support both organizational consistency and community identity.
